With Facebook Commerce, your audience can have a seamless shopping experience on Instagram and Facebook from the moment they discover your brand to their first purchase.

Instagram Shop

Tag your products in photos, videos, and stories, and turn any of your posts into an opportunity to shop directly inside Instagram, or use the Explore tab. Instagram Shop helps people discover your brand and your products, even if they aren't your followers.

Facebook Shop

Bring your product catalog to the spotlight with the Shop tab on your Facebook page so your followers can browse and buy your products.

Before you begin, make sure you've enabled Facebook Commerce on your ChatFood brand by following these steps.

Creating your Facebook and Instagram Shops via desktop

1. Go to your Facebook Business Manager, then click on More Tools on the left side menu.

2. Click on Ads Manager.

3. Next, click on the Business Tools menu (located at the top left corner) and then Commerce Manager.

4. Click on Add Shop. If you already have a shop, you just need to select it. If not, keep following the steps below.
⚠️ You must select your business shop and NOT ChatFood.

5. In the Create your shop creation window, click on Next to begin the setup.

6. In the next step, choose Checkout on another website.

7. Under Sales channels, select your Facebook and Instagram accounts.

8. Enter your business email address so customers can contact you.

9. Select your newly created catalog to add the products to your Shop.

⚠️ Catalog item URLs must be white-labeled (containing your brand name). Therefore, it's important to have a customized ChatFood ordering menu link for Facebook and Instagram Shop to verify the domain and correct links when you copy your item URL for your catalog. You can learn more in this article.

Here are some examples of what you should and shouldn't follow;

πŸ”΄ This is incorrect and won't be approved

Original ChatFood ordering menu link:

order.chatfood.io/brandname/

Original catalog item URL:

order.chatfood.io/brandname/item/00001

🟒 This is correct and will be approved

White-label ordering menu link:

order.brandname.com/

White-label catalog item URL:

order.brandname.com/item/00001

10. When adding your items make sure to fix the URL to have ?channel=ig_shop if you have set up your Instagram Shop or ?channel=fb_shop for Facebook Shop.

This is important to capture tracking when users are clicking to purchase your item.

βœ… Correct fix for Instagram Shop

order.brandname.com/item/00001?channel=ig_shop

βœ… Correct fix for Facebook Shop

order.brandname.com/item/00001?channel=fb_shop

πŸ’‘ TIP: Make sure to test your link once you make the update to make sure your store page loads. Copy the URL and paste it into your browser to confirm.

✍🏽 NOTE: Only 1 item can be used for Instagram and Facebook Shops so you will need to select which parameter you wish to add within the item URL above.

πŸ“Œ What is the Facebook process once you publish your shop?
Facebook will automatically start to review your shop as part of the approval process. If you receive a rejection, the reason is most likely due to the URL for your items, which have not been edited to reflect your white-label subdomain.

If the initial review has been rejected, then follow these steps:

  1. Edit 3 to 4 item URLs

  2. Click on the "submit a different website" link which will be shown on the rejection message and select your white-labeled subdomain

  3. Click on the "Update" button. This will trigger another review from Facebook and should end up with your shop being approved.

11. Review your Shop details then click on Finish setup.

⚠️ Once completing the steps above, your Shop will be created and sent for review by Facebook.

To follow the status of your newly created Shop, go to the overview tab of your Shop inside your Commerce Manager.

Creating your Instagram Shop via mobile

Once you complete the steps above and your Shop is approved by Facebook, follow the steps below in the Instagram app.

1. Click on the 3-line icon on the top right, then click on Settings at the bottom of the menu.

2. Go to Business, then click on Set Up Instagram Shopping.

Sync your ChatFood menu automatically

Adding products to your catalog can be done in two ways;

  1. From your Facebook Commerce account: Business tools > Commerce Manager > Shops > Add products

  2. ChaFood menu: Dashboard > Menu > Menus > View live menu > Update Facebook Catalog

When the sync is successful you will see the status as "Published" and the date that you last synced your menu to Facebook Catalog.

Criteria for automatically syncing your menu from the ChatFood dashboard to Facebook Catalog:

  • ChatFood menu must be published

  • Instagram / Facebook Shop is set up successfully

  • Every item that you would like to sync needs to have a description mentioned in your ChatFood menu

⚠️ If there is no description for your items, Facebook Catalog will skip those items when syncing and it will fail to be added.

ATTENTION
You may be experiencing an issue with the menu sync. If it happens, check the following on your items:

  1. Valid name

  2. Valid image

  3. Description

  4. Price lower than 1.
